200 gr. džiovintų datulių pjaustytų smulkiais gabaliukais
1 a.š. kepimo sodos
Žiupsnelis druskos
300 ml karšto vandens
100 gr. sviesto pjaustyto gabaliukais
280 gr. miltų (persijotų)
1 a.š. kepimo miltelių
50 gr. smulkintų graikiškų riešutų
100 gr. Muscovado Cukraus (naudojau paprastą rudąjį cukrų)
1 kiaušinis, suplaktas
2 v.š. rudojo cukraus
Gaminimo procesas:

Products:
200 gr. dried dates chopped into small pieces
1 tsp baking soda
Pinch of salt
300 ml hot water
100 gr. butter cut into pieces
280 gr. flour (sifted)
1 tsp baking powder
50 gr. chopped walnuts
100 gr. Muscovado sugar (I used brown sugar)
1 beaten egg
2 tbsp brown sugar
Method:Mix dates mixed with baking soda and salt. Pour hot water and leave to cool.
Preheat the oven to 180C, line baking form with baking paper.
With your fingers rub butter with the flour until you get crumbs. Stir in walnuts and sugar. Add flour mixture and egg mixed into dates. With an electric mixer beat everything well.
Pour the batter into the prepared form, sprinkle brown sugar on top and bake for 1 hour. - 1 hr. 15 minutes or until wooden toothpick inserted comes out clean. Leave loaf in a form for 5 minutes, then remove and finish cooling on a wire rack.
The original recipe said to wrap cake and keep for 1-2 days before eating.
I do not know how did it taste after a day, it smelled so good that I started eating it while it was still warm.
Šis pyragas vienas iš tų kurio paragavus sunku sustoti. Laimingo atsitiktinumo dėka pamačiau receptą kaip tik tuo metu kai turėjau nedidelį graikiškų riešutų ir džiovintų datulių likutį.
Nors pyrago originaliame recepte sakoma, kad atvėsusį jį reikia suvynioti į plėvelę ar foliją ir palaikyti taip kelias dienas nesusilaikiau ir atsipjoviau dar šilto.. O paskui jau supjausčiau ir likusį. Jei kam nors pavyks atsispirti pagundai ir išlaikyti jį suvyniotą 2 dienas, praneškite ar buvo skanu (Kažkodėl netikiu kad kam nors tai pavyks).

Datules sumaišyti su soda ir druska. Užpilti karštu vandeniu ir palikti atvėsti.
Orkaitę įkaitinti iki 180C, ištiesti kepimo formą kepimo popieriumi.
Rankomis sutrinti sviestą su miltais kol gausis trupiniai. Įmaišyti riešutus ir cukrų. Miltų masę ir kiaušinį įmaišyti į datules. Elektriniu plaktuvu viską gerai išplakti.
Supilti tešlą į paruoštą formą, pabarstyti ruduoju cukrumi ir kepti 1 val. - 1 val. 15 min. kol patikrinus mediniu iešmeliu jis nebebus aplipęs tešla. Atvėstinti formoje 5 minutes, tada išimti ir pabaigti vėsinti ant grotelių.
Originaliame recepte nurodyta suvyniojus į plėvelę ir prieš valgant palaikyti 1-2 dienas.
Bet nežinau ar taip skanu, kadangi kvepėjo taip skaniai, kad pradėjau valgyti vos pavėsusį.
This loaf is one of those addictive ones that after trying is just impossible to stop. I was lucky to see this recipe when I had a leftover dried dates and walnuts.
Though the original recipe says that it needs to be wrapped and left for 1-2 days after cooled, I cut it when it was still warm tried it.. And then just cut the rest. If anyone can resist the temptation and keep it wrapped for 2 days please let me know how does it taste then (Somehow I do not believe that anyone would be able to resist).
